Trends flow in and out of fashion. Our charge is to identify which ones have staying power. A key trend in home design that has emerged is Epic Nostalgia. Close your eyes and imagine all of the goodness of growing up in your childhood home. Do certain looks, styles, colors or textures emerge?  

Now, apply some of those retro elements from your mind in new fresh ways. Examples of Epic Nostalgia might be incorporating familiar colors.  Any other 70’s babies remember Avocado Green and Harvest Gold? Or how about the pastels of the 1980’s? We crave comfort and familiarity. Vintage influences and retro styles have made a comeback, characterized by bold patterns, and mixed metals.

Does Terracotta come to mind for a tiled laundry, kitchen or bathroom? If so, look no further than Chromatile for that historic Spanish tile look.  

How about Terrazzo for accents or backsplashes? I’m crazy for our Novara LVP and Urban Artistry subways. A little terrazzo goes a long way. Fun, playful, hip-storic.

Thick carpets or rugs? Look no further than Wow Factor ll in Copperglaze from Anderson Tuftex. I can hear the record player spinning Kenny Rogers, Donna Summer, and The Jackson Five.

Hardwood floor nostalgic colors but in LVP? Top Flight by COREtec has an incredible thickness and varying length planks rivaling hardwood. The Aleta Oak colorway takes me back to watching Wonder Woman, The Muppet Show, and The A Team. “I pity the fool!”

All of these retro looks have made their way back into modern decor. You can tippy toe back into Epic Nostalgia or dive in head first.

These yesteryear looks now have fresh textures, colors, and still pack some vintage flair. This trend encourages playful combinations while supporting harmony through thoughtful design choices.
